The obituary says Richard was survived by two sisters, Nila Shew and Mildred Gick. However, his father's obituary says he was survived by one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Bittner. [Note: Since his father, Charles, died at age 62, it is most likely that Richard's mother was also past child-bearing age, so Nila and Mildred were probably not children of that union. Theory: Rather than sisters, Nila and Mildred might have been Athelene's sisters - Richard's sisters-in-law.]
