Individual Note:
     In 1829, Robert was indentured by the Russell County, VA court. There is no record of what trade he learned or to whom he was indentured.

Date and place of birth are from military records. Robert enlisted in the Union Army, 49th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Co. F, as a private on 1 Jun 1863 and was mustered in at Camp Neson, KY on 19 Sep 1863 along with his son, Greenberry. Robert was discharged on 26 Dec 1864 at Lexington, KY. He received a land grant for 50 acres on Groundhog Fork of Otter Creek, Clay County, KY, where he lived part of his life.
