Individual Note: In Mar, 1812, court records show that Sarah was brought to trial for killing her infant son. Sarah used an alias, Caps according to court records. Lewis and his wife, as well as Benjamin and his wife, Ceely, appeared in court to give evidence on behalf of the state. The final results of the trial have never been learned.

Thomas Scalf, of Sweeny, Texas was on his way north for a surprise visit to his son, Walter H. Scalf, when the son drowned in the Ohio River above Madison last night. The father said he could not sleep Saturday night. He got up at 2:00 a.m., drove most of the day Sunday and all of last night, only to arrive here at 9:00 a.m. today to learn his son was dead.
