Thomas Charles Spann ObituaryThomas Charles Spann, 66, of Hayden, Idaho left his Earthly home on October 19, 2020 and now resides with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thomas was the eldest son of Jackson and Dorothy (Stephenson) Spann. Thomas was born in Burley, Idaho on June 26, 1954, a true native of this beautiful state, something he was proud of. He attended Burley High School; once graduated, he began his career as a truck driver.
Thomas met the love of his life, Sharon, in 1980 and after their third date he proposed. The two wed on September 2, 1980 in Burley, the day of his parents’ anniversary. Thomas welcomed his two children, Derrek Thomas in 1982 and Hallie Ann in 1986.
Thomas was a hardworking man that fiercely loved his family. Thomas worked for a variety of trucking companies over the years, but after moving to Coeur d'Alene in 1992, he settled on Great Northern Equipment as their lowboy driver. Before retirement Thomas worked as an independent owner/operator. Thomas was a skilled driver with 43 years of trucking and no major accidents.
Thomas loved the outdoors. He shared his love of the outdoors with his son, Derrek. The two of them camped, hunted and fished together. Their favorite fishing hole resides on the St. Joe River. Thomas was also a master gardener; he truly had a green thumb. He attributed his natural knack for gardening to his years living on a farm in Milner, Idaho. He loved to share his knowledge of gardening with his daughter, Hallie.
Thomas loved his wife Sharon fiercely; every camping trip or long-haul drive ended with him arriving at least one day sooner than expected. He felt most at home with Sharon. Thomas also enjoyed watching his grandson grow throughout the years and his face lit up at the sight of his newest granddaughter - his shining star. Thomas had a soft spot for animals, especially his Boston Terriers, Dexter and Tucker.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; his daughter, Hallie and son-in-law, Nicholas; his two beautiful grandchildren; his twin sister, Debora and brother-in-law, Jim Wardlow of Rathdrum, ID; brother, Jackson (Rhonda) Spann of Boise, ID; brother, Terry (Kelly) Spann of Burley, ID; sister, Sandra Tibbets of Southern ID; and numerous extended family and friends.
