Obituary

Jerry Robert Scalf, 49, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with ALS. Jerry was born in Greeneville, TN and moved to Parkersburg, WV at a young age. After high school, Jerry joined the United States Navy and served honorably from 1985 until 1991. During this time, Jerry was stationed at the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland as a Hospital Corpsman and at the Naval Hospital Balboa in San Diego, CA as a Psychiatric Technician. After being discharged from the Navy, Jerry went on to earn a degree in healthcare administration. Shortly afterward he started his career in the insurance industry. Jerry began as a sales representative for Secure Horizons Insurance Company in California. Through the years, Jerry's hard work and perseverance earned him the title of Vice President of Medicare Sales at URL Insurance Group. He was well respected and considered an expert in the field.More than anything, Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a dedicated and loving father and husband. He loved traveling and sharing new experiences with his wife and children. Jerry was known for his sense of humor and his outgoing and positive personality. He had a passion for automobiles and loved music, especially playing the guitar. Jerry is survived by his wife and soulmate of nearly 30 years, Christine (Anselmo), and his two precious children Caroline and Samuel. Jerry was blessed with two mothers in his life. Preceding him in death were his father Robert Scalf and mother Gerry Scalf. He is also survived by his mother Mary Lee Scalf. In addition to his mother, Jerry is survived by his siblings Sally McAmis, Christopher Marshall, Mark Scalf, Kelly Anderson, Alison (Scalf) Montgomery and Katie Del Moral.Jerry was a warrior during his whole illness; he fought to the end. Special thanks to Jerry's compassionate caregiver Alma Garcia, his angel on earth.His life will be celebrated on Sunday, October 23rd, 2016 at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 PM. Jerry Robert Scalf lived in Enola.4 He lived in Enola, Pennsylvania.3
